Adam Blakis
Head Coach

Coach Adam Blakis has 16 years of coaching experience. Adam’s coaching career has included stops at UC Riverside, St. Monica’s High, Crespi High, Chabot Community College, Santa Monica College and the Palisades-Malibu YMCA. Adam has coached numerous Senior, Junior and YMCA National qualifiers. At the 2004 YMCA Summer Nationals Adam's swimmers placed 1st and 2nd in the Women's 50 Meter Free.  Adam swam and played water polo at Santa Monica High and then later at UC Riverside where he graduated with a BA in History.

Brian Timmerman Malibu Head Coach

Coach Brian Timmerman was the Head Coach at the Palisades-Malibu YMCA, Age Group Coach at Conejo Simi Aquatics and CCAT swimming.  He was also the Head Coach at Stephen Wise Aquatics.

Alexis Binder

Coach Alexis Binder swam at the University of Southern California, and was a finalist at US Nationals (800 Free and 1500 Free), Pac 10 (1650 Free), and 1998 NCAA’s (1650 Free). Coach Alexis also qualified for the 2000 Olympic Trials (800 Free).  She represented the US at the 1998 Pan Am games and was a finalist there as well.  In ocean swimming she was a 3 time winner of the 3 mile ocean swim at the Santa Barbara Semana Nautica Ocean Festival (1996, 1997, 1998) beating the top men and women!  She has coached novice swimmers at the Santa Barbara Swim Club before moving back to Los Angeles to attend LA Trade Tech College and prepare for a career in nursing. 

Diana Southern

Coach Diana helps coach the novice group in Malibu.  She began teaching swim lessons in her hometown of Ballwin, Missouri, where she was a Lifeguard and Swim Instructor for seven years.  She moved to Malibu in January 2006 to attend Pepperdine University to study Advertising and Multimedia Design.  During her senior year of college, she began working as a Lifeguard, Lifeguard instructor, and Private Swim Instructor for the City of Malibu.  After graduating from Pepperdine this spring with a B.A. in Advertising, Coach Diana began coaching with Westside Aquatics.  Her future plans include working toward a Masters Degree in Exercise Physiology.
